Time Traveler and His Kdrama Addict Girlfriend

Hi, I'm Yoo-Jin. I watch Korean dramas and live by Korean dramas. Call me an addict if you want, but I like to address myself as a Korean drama specialist.

𑁋𑁋𑁋

Episode 1: Break The Three-Month Curse

Hannah: Well, look at you! Six-month anniversary, huh? Who would have thought you two last this long? I thought he would leave for good when you assumed he was some kind of "runaway chaebol".

Me: I'm glad that you find mocking me entertaining.

Hannah: Hey, at least you finally break your three-month curse.

Me: It's Jack. He's special! He is totally different from the other guys I dated in the past. Jack understands me. He just gets me. The other guys...weren’t meant to be.

Hannah: Or it could be because you haven’t been going wild and crazy with all of your nonsense Korean drama theories. What did I tell you? Leave your addiction for Korean drama aside. You’ll be a perfect girl that every guy wants to date.

Me: Hey! I know you are my best friend but stop bashing my Kdrama.

I know what y’all thinking. Yoo-Jin not talking about Kdrama: What a lie! But the truth is. ever since I started dating Jack, I've cut back on Kdrama marathon. I spend more time at the gym with him than lying on my couch and indulging myself in some romantic and hilarious goodness. Of course, I didn’t give up on Kdrama completely. Kdrama is life. I’m only watching one series at the moment, Tomorrow With You, which is very unlike me because, normally, I would follow 4 to 5 series at a time.

And maybe Hannah is right. Because I stop apply Kdrama into my life, I broke the three-month curse. All of my past relationships never lasted more than three-month. Remember Aiden? You saw what happened! I’m very happy with Jack and I’ll do every it takes to keep things between us going. Maybe, one day, Jack and I can be like So-Joon and Ma-ri in Tomorrow with You. Man, that drama really does make you want to get married. Anyhow, I need to get on packing for our anniversary trip to San Diego - Jack's home.

Episode 2: Weird Gadgets and The Trolley

It's day 2 in San Diego. And you won't believe what I've just found out about Jack. We're staying at the house where he grew up with his parents. His room is filled with his memories, from baby Jack to high-school Jack and college Jack. He also has a little attic above his room which he firmly told me "Don't try going up the attic!" on the first day we got here. Of course, I gotta find out what he's hiding. What I saw was unexplainable! I mean, unexplainable for you, not for me, because I watch Tomorrow with You.

In the attic, Jack keeps all of the weird and advanced gadgets. There are these cool sneakers that automatically adjust to your size and tie up on their own the moment you slip your feet in. There is also this 4D augmented reality device that not only lets you view the real scene but also lets you smell the sense and feel the texture when you touch. There is also this weird but cute vacuum robot that thinks it's a dog. He'll roll his way to you if you call him and eat up all the trash you throw all the floor. I feel like I'm in some kind of sci-fi movie.

Me *talking to Hannah on the phone*: Hannah, you won't believe what I'm about to tell you!

Hannah: If you're gonna tell me about your romantic dinner on cruise with Jack, I will believe you.

Me: That's not even important anymore. Listen! Jack is a time traveler.

Hannah: What does that come from? Are you watching Kdrama again, Yoo-Jin? I thought we're finally over that.

Me: Jack didn't want me to go to his attic but I did anyway and found all these weird gadgets and devices. You know, like the ones that So-Joon in Tomorrow with You brings back from his trip to the future.

Hannah: Not again!

Me: I've been telling him that I want to take trolley around San Diego but he keeps telling me we can take his car. He avoids using it because he doesn't want to disappear in front of my eyes. So-Joon travels between now and the future by taking the subway. For Jack, it's the trolley.

Hannah: Or maybe because the man has a car. Duh!

Me: What about the weird gadgets I saw? How do you explain it?

Hannah: I don't know. Ask him!

Me: I will. Oh my God, I can't wait to see the 2022 phones. They are the bombs.

Episode 3: The End of a KDrama Addict?

Me: Jack, I'm sorry! Let's break up! I can't be with you anymore.

Jack: What did I do wrong? We were having fun.

Me: I can't do this anymore. I'm going back to San Francisco tomorrow morning. I'm sorry. Please understand!

It's heart-breaking but it's the best for both of us. I'm glad I watched the new episode of Tomorrow with You last night. Ma-ri, as a wife of a time traveler, has so much responsibilities and fears. There is a chance that So-Joon can be stuck in the future, not being able to go back to the present. I can't bring myself through those pains.

Jack: Yoo-Jin, look at me! Tell me what's wrong?

Me: Everything would be fine if you weren't a time traveler. Being a girlfriend of a time traveler is too much for me.

Jack: Who's the time traveler? I have no idea what you're talking about?

Me: I'm sorry I went to your attic. I saw what you brought back from the future. You don't need to lie.

Jack: Oh! Those gadgets? They're from my friends who are working in research fields. Those gadgets will be released in the next few years. I'm just one of their test-users.

Me: Really? You don't time-travel? Then how do you explain about the trolley?

Jack: I have Claustrophobia. I'm afraid of small space. Yoo-Jin, I know you tend to be a little dramatic. And I know your obsession with Korean Drama. But this is too much. Don't you think?

Me: I'm so sorry! I went to far this time. I almost ruined our relationship.

Jack pulls me toward him and gives me a hug.

Jack: It's alright! At least you know. And I think it's time for you to take a break from Korean drama. I'm serious!

Me: Okay, I will. I can quit but can I watch this last episode of Tomorrow with You? It comes out today. I think So-Joon is about to get stuck in the future.

The Evil Mother-In-Law

Hi, I'm Yoo-Jin. I watch Korean dramas and live by Korean dramas. Call me an addict if you want, but I like to address myself as a Korean drama specialist.
𑁋𑁋𑁋

Episode 1: Honeymoon Phase

It's been four months since Jack and I officially became a couple. Things have been going quite smoothly between us. Because of him, I spend more time at the gym and grow an interest in fitness and healthy diet. Though I still make sure I get my daily dose of Korean dramas. I think Jack is the one. He is exactly the type of person I want to date. Jack has the appearance of a K-drama male lead but he isn't overly perfect to the point that it's too good to be true. He has flaws but I think it is cute. The last four months were full of honey and roses.

According to the five stages of Korean drama couple, Jack and I are at stage two, where we spend a lot of time together, get to know each other and steadily develop our relationship. I can tell you all five stages right now but let's save them for the future. Anyway, being in stage two means that we are approaching stage three: something will disrupt our relationship. And that something is really coming!

Last night, Jack told me that his mom was coming to San Francisco to visit him and James. She will stay for a week and he wanted to introduce me to her.
𑁋𑁋𑁋
Hannah: I don't get it. Why are you worried? Jack wants you to meet his mom. He is serious about you guys' relationship.

Me: I know. But I don't think I'm ready for it. I'm scared. What if his mom doesn't like me? What if she thinks I'm not good enough for her son? What if she wants us to break up? You know how mean mother-in-laws can be?

Hannah: Who said that?

Me: Korean dramas.
𑁋𑁋𑁋
One of the early lessons I learned from Korean dramas is that mother-in-laws are some of the "baddest of the bad". You think the step-mothers in Cinderella or Snow White are evil? You might be wrong. Those step-moms are nothing comparing to mother-in-laws. The mother-in-laws I have seen in K-dramas are the ones who are too controlling of their sons' love life and future. They think nobody is good enough for their son.

And they have no problem using the meanest and dirtiest tactics to get in between the couples. What will I do if Jack's mom think I'm out of his league? They own a family business so, technically, James is a "chaebol" (chaebol is a wealthy heir of a family business).

𑁋𑁋𑁋

Hannah: Yoo-Jin, this isn't Korean dramas. Just don't talk about any of your wacky theories during the dinner and you'll be fine.

Episode 2: Calm Before The Storm

On the day of, Jack decided to cook for all of us: his mom, James, Jack and I. I didn't know he can cook and that was very impressive. Another reason for me to love him. Meeting Jack's mom, Shelly, wasn't as scary as I though I would be. Shelly was very soft-spoken, elegant yet approachable. I was able to make normal conversation with her without referring anything back to Korean dramas.

Everything went unexpectedly well and the night would have been completely perfect until Shelly said she wanted to go get some housewares for the twins the next day. And since both James and Jack had work, Shelly asked if I could go with her. I started to panic.
𑁋𑁋𑁋
Hannah: Don't worry, Yoo-Jin. You two are just going shopping and, maybe, having lunch together.

Me: Why does she want to be alone with me? She could wait until the weekends when Jack is free. Do you think she has something else in mind?

Hannah: Like what?

Me: Have you heard about "calm before the storm"? I'm sure they have that in American shows as well. No wonder she was so nice to me during the dinner. You know. In Korean dramas, when the mom want to see the girl her son is dating alone, there is only one scenario that will happen: the water splash!

Hannah: There you go again! This is not Korean dramas. I repeat.

Episode 3: Expect The Unexpected

After buying some housewares for Jack and James, Shelly picked a nice yet quiet Mediterranean restaurant for lunch. The whole shopping trip was pretty pleasant. There was definitely awkwardness in the air but Shelly seemed to enjoy herself.

Me: So, what do you think about San Francisco?

Shelly: Yoo-Jin, you are very nice, but I want you to break up with Jack.

Me: Yeah? What are you talking about, Shelly?

Shelly: You are a smart girl. I don't want to hurt you. You're way out of Jack's league. My son deserves better. Tell me how much you want! We're not filthy rich but I will try to meet your request as long as you agree to leave Jack.

Me: Yeah? Shelly, I really don't understand what you're saying.

Shelly *burst into laughter*: I always wanted to try this ever since I started watching Korean dramas. Did I scare you, Yoo-Jin?

Me *inner thought*: Oh no!

How To Get Your Crush - The Kdrama Style

Hi, I'm Yoo-Jin. I watch Korean dramas and live by Korean dramas. Call me an addict if you want, but I like to address myself as a Korean drama specialist.
𑁋𑁋𑁋

Episode 1: Dating - Korean Drama Style

Now that I'm certain about whom I have feeling for: Jack. It is time for some actions. You don't think I would just sit around and wait for him to magically fall in love with me, do you? Korean dramas have taught me that if I want to get the love of my life, I need to make my intention super clear.

Korean dramas are popular for the excessively romantic scenes that make you cringe. But I didn't waste hours of my life just to be entertained by them. In fact, I've gained a trick or two up my sleeve about dating. If I want to get Jack to like me, I need to recreate the romantic chemistry, then, ultimately make him mine.

Hannah: How?

Me: Stalk him.

Hannah: Yoo-Jin, that's illegal.

Me: I mean...coincidently show up everywhere he is. Pretend like I run into him. Make him feel like we are fated, a match made from heaven. They do that all the time in Korean dramas and it always works. When Sarah tried to win her ex-husband back, she showed up wherever he was, like his favorite fishing spot. You know, she even got him to teach her how to fish. Her ex-husband totally fell for her again.

Hannah: Huh?! Who's Sarah?

Me: Oh! Sarah from Birth of The Beauty. It was a such great drama.

Lucky me! I don't have much trouble figuring out where Jack would be like Sarah did with her ex-husband. Jack is a certificated fitness instructor at the gym nearby. When he isn't at home, he is certainly at the gym. That makes things even better. You have no idea how many romantic scenarios can happen at the gym.

Or the steamy sit-up session from Secret Garden:

I'm going to sign up for a gym membership. Although I'm not a very active individual, with Jack being my personal trainer, I think I can be at the gym 24/7.

Episode 2: Men in Black

My first day of gym wasn't all that terrible. True, it was tiring. My body was so used to laying around and watching Korean dramas all day. But Jack was there and, at least, I didn't do anything to embarrass myself in front of him.

Jack truly belongs to the gym. He's already good-looking in everyday clothes. But he's able to show off his lean and tone physique in proper gym work-out clothes. His figure is exactly my style, muscular but not too bulky. It was very difficult to concentrate on working out.

I pretended not to now how to do sit-up and asked Jack for help. My heart was pounding so hard just thinking about reenacting the steamy sit-up scene in Secret Garden with Jack. As I was ready to get into action, two men in black tracksuit interrupted us. Jack told me to wait and followed them outside. He never came back. That night, he texted me to apologize and explained it was something urgent. My intuition told me men-in-black wasn't a good sight. According to Korean dramas, they are either gangster, loan shark, kidnapper or all of the above.
𑁋𑁋𑁋

Me: Hannah, have James and Jack ever talked about their family?

Hannah: No, not really.

Me: We never saw any of their family visit them, either.

Hannah: That's true but why? What's wrong?

Me: I was at the gym the other night with Jack. Then, two guys came and Jack left with them.

Hannah: They must be friends.

Me: No, they are not. My intuition is never wrong. I've been watching this drama called Oh My Venus! In the drama, Young-Ho is a personal trainer although he is from a wealthy family. He decided to run away from all of his family issues but his grandmother always wants to take him back and to make him inherit the family's corporate.

Hannah: And your point is?

Me: Jack and James never say anything about their family. Their family never visit them. Their family can be very rich and they are both running away or hiding from their family. And the two men in black were the people Jack's family sent to find him.

Hannah: Not again, Yoo-Jin!

Episode 3: Oh My Venus!

I've been going to the gym and train with Jack every night. Tonight wasn't an exception until I saw Jack talking to the two men from last time in a shady corner next to the gym. My curiosity couldn't stay still so I decided to stalk them. The men left after about 10 minutes but I was too far away to be able to eavesdrop on the conversation. Even worse, Jack saw me.

Jack: Yoo-Jin, what are you doing in there?

Me: Ah...Uhm...I...I'm looking for my sunglasses. I think I dropped them here.

Jack: It's 9 p.m. Why are you wearing sunglasses? Were you eavesdropping me?

Me: Uhm...Ah...I...Wait, don't be mad. I can explain.

I had no choice but trying my best to explain to Jack my Korean drama based theory about his family background, in a way that made me seem less crazy possible. I even told him about Oh My Venus! and that I was a big fan of Korean dramas. Jack told me his family didn't have a corporate but they owned a small family business in South California. He always wanted to live in San Francisco so when James was offered a job here, Jack decided to come with him. Hence, nobody in his family was against him for being a fitness instructor. I thought my chance with Jack was over but his reaction startled me.

Jack: You are a very interesting girl, Yoo-Jin.

Me: I know. My Korean drama intuition gets very strong sometimes.

Jack: Do you wanna go get dinner tomorrow?

Me: Sure! I'll tell Hannah.

Jack: No. Just you and me.

Me *inner thought*: Oh my Venus! It works!

Do I Have Two Hearts?

Hi, I'm Yoo-Jin. I watch Korean dramas and live by Korean dramas. Call me an addict if you want, but I like to address myself as a Korean drama specialist.
𑁋𑁋𑁋

Episode 1:

If you remember from my last post, Prince Charming a.k.a James does not have dissociative identity disorder. Well, he has a twin, Jack. I couldn't explain to them how and why I came up with that over the top theory because, obviously, they never watch Korean dramas.

I can only secretly blame Korean dramas for making it seem so common for a person to have multiple personalities (Don't believe me? Go watch Kill Me, Heal Me! Cha Do Hyun has 7 different personalities).

Jack told me that James and him rented the apartment together but he was rarely at home because of work. James is a 9-5 manager at an insurance company while Jack works as a fitness instruction at a gym nearby with irregular schedule.

Thanks to that incident, Jack has a good laugh every time he see me and James hates me even more. While Jack playfully teases me about my "creative" imagination, James doesn't even try to hide the fact that I irritate him.

I don't know what his deal is but I haven't done anything terribly wrong to him. From what I recall, all I did was giving him a batch of fresh baked cookies, to which he slammed the door on me, and accusing him of having dissociative identity disorder, to which he thought I belong to a mad house. Although James, Jack, Hannah and I have become friends through a couple of dinners and get-together, James doesn't treat me like a one. When he sees Hannah and I together, he will only acknowledge Hannah's present and pretend like I'm invisible. In the apartment parking lot, he will speed up and take the empty spot instead of being a gentleman and letting me park. How can twin brothers be so different from each other? They are like ying and yang, the moon and the sun. Jack is way nicer and friendlier. He is very easy to talk to and extremely humorous. You know the type of person who make you feel so comfortable to be around. That's Jack.

Episode 2: The Two Hearts of Yoo-Jin

If you were me, you definitely made a move on Jack, right? I mean...Appearance wise, they are identical twins so that means they are equally good looking. Personality wise, Jack is the nicer one and is obviously the one that can has chemistry with me. If I want to date someone again, it is more likely that there can be something between me and Jack.

But...

In any Korean dramas, when a guy likes a girl, he will initially be very rude and mean to her. He will often be very cocky and obnoxious and will try to bully the girl every chance that he gets.

That is exactly how James has been treating me. I have gain so much experience from Korean drama that I can tell that James likes me. Otherwise, he has no reason to be so mean to me.

The bigger problem is I think I like both of them at the same time. My heart is so confused. I like Jack because of his humor, sensitivity and gentleness but James' bad boy vibe just gets into me. I told Hannah and she advised me that I should wait and see who was better for me. I understand what she meant but waiting is not a solution. What if another girls come and get both of them? I need to make my move.
𑁋𑁋𑁋

Me: Hannah, what do you think if I date both James and Jack at them same time?

Hannah: Are you crazy? Dating two guys at the same time? Isn't that cheating?

Me: If both of them know about it then, technically, no.

Hannah: Who would agree to let his girlfriend date another guy, let alone his twin brother?

Me: It's possible, you know. I recently start watching this Korean drama called Jealousy Incarnate. The main female lead loves both of the guys but she doesn't know whom she loves more. The two guys, who are best friends, can't live without her either. They decide to let her date both of them so she can weigh the pros and cons. I don't think it's a bad idea. If I go out with both of them at the same time, I can do side-by-side comparison. Don't you agree?

Hannah looked at me with disapproval eyes but I didn't care. She never approves any of my theories and hypothesis to begin with. Dating James and Jack seems like the best plan I have right now. It works in the Korean drama world. It might as well work in reality. All I need to do is to convince the twins.

Episode 3: Jealousy Incarnate

I gathered all of my courage and craziness to walk down to talk to Jack and James. When I was about to leave my apartment, I saw both of them in front of theirs. With. Another. Girl. She was blonde and glamourous. Based on the way they interacted, they must be very close. I never seen them with any girls before. She was the first. She was holding both of their arms. I stalked them for maybe 15 minutes until they walked her to her car. Before she left, she placed a kiss on both James and Jack's cheeks. My stomach burnt and my heart was on fire. In my imagination, I kicked her and punched until she passed out. But that was when I realized something.

I like Jack. It finally came clear. I can't believe it was so easy to realize I like Jack. I were annoyed when the girl kissed James but the feeling I got the moment her lips touched Jack's cheek couldn't be described in words. It's like the world had just exploded. My blood was flowing in the speed of light. There must be smoke coming from my head because I could feel my whole body was burning. I was jealous when she kissed Jack but not James. I found the answer.

That night, I watched another episode of Jealousy Incarnate. In this episode, the main female lead also realized who she actually loved because she couldn't contain her jealousy when he was with another girl. What a coincidence! If I watched this episode earlier, I could have saved myself so much headache from thinking how to convince Jack and James to date me at the same time. Luckily, I got the realization before I asked them. If not, I would have made a fool of myself all over again.

Hyde, Jekyll and I

Hi, I'm Yoo-Jin. I watch Korean Dramas and live by Korean Dramas. Call me an addict if you want, but I like to address myself as a Korean Drama specialist.

𑁋𑁋𑁋

Episode 1: My New Neighbor is Prince Charming

Let me first address the elephant in the room! Yes, “perfect” Aiden broke up with me but that was all in the past. I did say he was too perfect to be true, didn't I? So I’m way over it. Lately, I've been too occupied with a new Korean Drama: Hyde, Jekyll, Me. And another thing that has been keeping my mine busy is my new neighbor is the one that looks like he walks straight out of Korean Drama.

Prince charming moved into the apartment below mine about a week ago. I don’t know his name…yet! We haven’t talked to each other…yet! But that is just the matter of time. I only catch a glimpse of him walking to his car a couple of times but, boy, he looks like an American version of Hyun Bin.

In case you don't know who Hyun Bin is!
His body is perfectly made for black suit. He is at least 6 feet with broad shoulders and toned body. I bet he is sweet and gallant. I can see gentleman qualities glowing out from him. His composure suggests that he is successful. That's exactly my ideal boyfriend. I need to make a move. With years of watching Korean Drama, I have some tricks up my sleeve.

𑁋𑁋𑁋

Hannah: Hmm! Something smells good!

Me: I'm baking cookies.

Hannah: Baking? You don't even bake for my birthday.

Me: Because you're not my prince charming. You know, the new guy downstairs.

Hannah: Uhm. What about him?

Me: I'm giving these cookies to him, as a "welcome gift". Nobody can resist Yoo-Jin’s cookies.
𑁋𑁋𑁋

Hannah: Why did you bring the cookies back? Your prince isn't home?

Me: He is. But he totally slammed the door in my face.

Hannah: Oops! Look like someone's just got rejected.

Reality didn't quite match my imagination. It turned out that prince charming is as cold as ice. When I told him I wanted to share some cookies as his new neighbor, he ruthlessly said, "I don't eat cookies". And bam, he slammed the door real hard without even looking at the cookie or my face. That hurt my pride. I will never take no for an answer.

Episode 2: Hyde vs. Jekyll

I didn't give up on prince charming but as I was trying to come up with another plan, something really strange happened. Last night, prince charming and I coincidently bumped into each other in the apartment parking lot. Thinking of the cookie incidence, I awkwardly tried to avoid him but he called out to me. He introduced himself that he was my new neighbor living underneath my apartment like it was the first time we encountered. "Did he forget about the cookies?", I thought to myself.

His name is Jack. Jack is very bubbly and friendly. He is full of humor. We talked quite a bit as we walked back to our apartments together; every joke he made cracked me up. The way he talked to me last night was totally different from the guy who slammed the door at me not too long ago. The Korean Drama intuition in me is awaken. Something is definitely not right.
𑁋𑁋𑁋
Me: I finally know how I'm going to get prince charming. I'm going to heal him and he's going to fall in love me.

Hannah: What in the world are you talking about? And why are you still calling him "prince charming"? Didn't you say his name was Jack?

Hannah looked at me with confused eyes. And she should be. Even I didn't understand it until I connected Hyde, Jekyll, Me with my hot new neighbor downstairs. The humorous guy I talked to is Jack but Jack is not prince charming. Plot twist! Prince charming has dissociative identity disorder, meaning he has multiple personalities, like Hyde and Jekyll or Goo Soo Jin and Robin. And Jack is his other alter. Finally, I can understand why Jack didn't seem to remember the cookies incident and why prince charming was so cold and ruthless to me while Jack was so kind and bubbly. Think of it as two different people share the same body.

In Hyde, Jekyll, Me, whenever Soo Jin around Jang Ha Na, his heart rate exceeds 150 and Robin appears. I might be the trigger for Jack to emerge. When I gave prince charming the cookies, he was so ruthless to me because he didn't want to interact with me. His heart rate might go up. If you still don't understand what I'm talking about, go watch Hyde, Jekyll, Me. And let me remind you again:

Got it?!

Episode 3: There are Two of You?

I haven't seen Jack for a few days. Prince charming must be keeping his heart rate under control. But too bad for him! Because I'm planning to raise it up today. If I want to help him cure his disorder, I need to talk to Jack in order to find out the trigger for his appearance. When he comes back from work, I'm going to give him a big hug and make his heart rate exceed.

Prince charming: What the hell are you doing? I'm gonna call security.

Me: Wait, wait! Hold on!

Jack running towards us: Yoo-Jin, James, what are you two doing?

Me: James? Wait! There are two of you?

James: You know her, Jack?

Jack: Yeah, she lives upstairs. Yoo-Jin, this is my twin brother: James. James, this is Yoo-Jin.

Me: Did you say twin? This isn't right. I thought you have dissociative identity disorder and Jack is you alternate personality.

Jack and James spoke at the same time.

Jack: You're so funny!

James: You're crazy!

My Boyfriend is an Alien. Or am I?

Hi, I'm Yoo-Jin. I watch Korean Dramas and live by Korean Dramas. Call me an addict if you want, but I like to address myself as a Korean Drama specialist.

𑁋𑁋𑁋

Episode 1: Boyfriend from another Star
I closed the apartment door behind me. My best friend and roommate, Hannah, was sitting on the sofa.
Me: Aiden is an alien.
Hannah glared at me.
Hannah: Again?! Have you already forgotten about the pig blood dinner?
Me: That time was because I hadn't watched My Love from another Star. But since I did, I’m 100% sure.
Hannah: You said the exact same thing last time when you watched Blood. And what? Aliens? Aliens don’t exist, Yoo-Jin.
Hannah is wrong. Even NASA can't confirm whether or not aliens exist so there is still a good chance they do. And Aiden could be one of them. In case you are curious, yes, Aiden and I are still together despite the whole vampire and pig blood incident. “Perfect” Aiden is still being too perfect. He is so loving and caring, and even nicer to me than before. He does whatever I ask him to.  Although he’s crazily busy, he makes sure that he has time to bring me to fancy restaurants and interesting places. He’s is the one and only boyfriend that any Korean Drama addicts would wish for.
It was disappointing that Aiden wasn't a vampire but alien is even better, especially the ones in Korean Dramas. And by alien, I didn't mean E.T. type of alien. I meant the handsome alien with fun superpowers such as stopping time, teleporting, super strength, super hearing and telekinesis like Do Min Joon in My Love from another Star.

Even if Aiden really is an alien, he will never admit it on his own. I need to make him accidentally reveal it. Maybe watching another episode of My Love from another Star might help.
Episode 2: D-Day aka Disastrous Day
I waited for Aiden out on the balcony of my apartment, with a large bucket of water. This morning, he texted me that he had something to tell me. I took my chance. In one episode of My Love from another Star, the bad guy dropped a flowerpot on the female lead from the second floor balcony but, luckily, Do Min Joon was able to save her by stopping time. And that inspired me to come up with my genius plan.
I saw Aiden walking toward my apartment. "Babe", I called him the moment he arrived at the first floor walkway and, at the same time, dumped the whole bucket of water down on him.

Time didn't stop and he didn't dodge it. Instead, he was soaking wet from head to toe. Needless to say, he was shocked. So was I! "What the hell are you doing?", Aiden looked up at me and his eyes were full of anger. "Wait! Let me explain!", I ran downstairs as fast as I could but Aiden already left.
That didn't go as planned because in my perfect scenario, Aiden would stop time and dodge the water. I would run into his arms and tell him I knew who he was and that he didn't have to hide anymore. Aiden would tell me why he was stuck on Earth and how he'd been secretly protecting me all this time using his power. And I would fall in love with him again. Why didn't he dodge the water? Why?
Episode 3: He is from another planet. Or am I?
Me: Poor Aiden! He is trying to distance himself from me to prevent me from being heartbroken. He's worried that I'll be in pain if one day he has to go back.
Hannah: Go back where? What in the world are you talking about?
Me: To his star. Aiden wanted to break up with me.
Hannah: WHAT?!
Me: He texted me. See? Told you I was right. He knows he will have to leave me behind so he broke up with me before I'm fallen too deep for him
Hannah: Girl! Your boyfriend is breaking up with you. And you're here talking nonsense.
Innocent little Hannah will never get it because she always refuses to what Korean Dramas with me. Another thing I've learned from years of watching Korean Dramas is that leaving someone is the way to make him or her happy.
And another thing I've learned from Korean Drama is that clingy girl gets what she wants. Never take no for an answer. I decided to go to Aiden's company and confront him.
Aiden: What are you doing here? We broke up.
Me: No, we didn't. I knew you didn't mean it. You're trying to protect me. Babe, you don't need to do that. You don't have to lie to me.
Aiden: You're too crazy for me. I should have left after that time you let me drink pig blood.
Me: Saying mean things to me all you want. I understand. You don't mean it.
Aiden: Yes, I meant it. Please, why can't you just understand that we're done? I've met someone else.
Me: Wait, what?! No, you didn't. You were avoiding me because you didn't want me to get hurt.
Aiden: I'm avoiding you because who knows what kind of madness you will do to me. I wanted to break up with you last time I went to your apartment. But you suddenly splashed me with water so I thought you found out I met someone else.
Me: I splashed water on you because I thought you were alien.
Aiden: What? Seriously? Alien!? Yeah! You! You are the alien!

Too Good to be...Normal?

Hi, I'm Yoo-Jin. I watch Korean Dramas and live by Korean Dramas. Call me an addict if you want, but I like to address myself as a Korean Drama specialist.

Episode 1: Too Good to be...Normal?

Not trying to brag but I’m quite lucky when it comes to guys. All the guys I dated in the past were quite decent; they were cute, sweet and good-looking. (Sadly, they never stick around for too long and I always wonder why). However, Aiden is on a whole different level. Aiden and I have been seeing each other for about 5 months. He is all around perfect. He is sweet, caring and compassionate. Even with his crazy schedule, he still saves time to take me out, checks on me every day and makes sure I get home safely. Sometimes, he calls me just to say he missed me. He always knows what I want, like he could see through my mind. Not only that, he is hilariously adorable when he is tipsy. And when he is in suit, Aiden is the “sexy incarnated”. He has the perfect face and the perfect body that all the guys wish to have and all the girls wish their boyfriends to have. Like the cherry on top of the cake, Aiden is a successful businessman. His perfection is limitless. And that...is not right! Aiden is too good to be true.

One thing I learn from watching Korean Dramas for many years is that it is absolutely impossible for a normal person to just simply be that perfect. Aiden can't be just plain perfect. And I believe there is more to catch. Aiden is too good to be...normal!

Beautiful people can't be normal!

Episode 2: VBT-01. Am I Dating a Vampire?

"Aiden? Vampire? You are insane, Yoo-Jin!" My best friend, Hannah, flipped when I told her that Aiden could be a vampire. "Vampires are fictional. Stop watching Korean Dramas!" she yelled at me on the phone before she hung up. People think vampires aren't real because they haven't met one yet but I think I had met mine. I don't blame her for not believing it. But I do. And I have evidence to prove my intuition is right. It happened 2 days ago.

It was Saturday night and I decided to stay over at Aiden's apartment. I asked him if I could help him shave his facial hair (because, you know, couple shaving scene is the most romantic thing on any Korean Dramas that I have to reenact). Of course, he agreed. It was my first time shaving for a guy so I was very clumsy and accidentally cut him. To my surprise, Aiden immediately covered his wound, pushed me out of the bathroom and closed the door. Ten minutes later, he walked out with a bandage on his left chin. "I'm sorry. Are you okay? Let me see the cut!" I ran to him and tried to remove the bandage. "I'm okay. I took care of it." Aiden quickly brushed my hand off and walked away. He looked suspicious.

Bam! That was when it hit me. Flashback flooded my head: the Blood episode I watched the day before. In that episode, Ji-Sang got cut and also hid his wound from Rita because there was no wound. Ji-Sang was a vampire and he could heal instantly.

So, Aiden is a vampire. He must be infected by virus VBT-01 which turns normal people into blood-drinking vampires. But Aiden never harms me because, just like Ji-Sang, he is consuming special medicine that can block the affect of blood-thirst (How do I know, you ask? Go watch Blood).

Suddenly, everything makes sense to me. Vampire, yes, vampire! What else can he be? No wonder Aiden is so unordinary. Vampire is the answer to his all around perfection. My heart is jumping up and down as I’m typing this. Dating a vampire is all I have ever wanted.

Those tall, dark and handsome vampires

Episode 3: Expectation vs. Reality

Me: Aiden, do you love me?

Aiden: Of course, Yoo-Jin. You don't trust me?

Me: I do. But...do you trust me?

Aiden: I never doubt you.

Me: You're lying. I know you're hiding something from me.

Aiden: You might misunderstand something. I would never lie to you.

Me: Then, should we make a toast?

I was closely observing Aiden as he raised the glass to his mouth, waiting for the moment when his lips touch the liquid. He spitted it out right away. "NO! That's not right", I thought in my head. That glass of wine wasn’t really wine. It was pig blood I got from a local Asian supermarket to make Aiden admit that he was a vampire. Needless to say, Aiden looked at me like I was totally insane when I told him what was really in the glass. He was angry! I tried to explain about the vampire, the shaving incident and the drama Blood that I was watching.

It turned out that his biggest pet peeves was having people seeing his open cut or wound. He ended up showing me the cut which had formed a scar. At first, it sounded pretty weird to me but, comparing to the fact that I thought he was a vampire, his pet peeves seems to be completely sane. Aiden was angry at me for a week. And when I was about to run out of all the heart-melting lines I’ve learned from Korean Dramas, he finally forgave me. He should have told me earlier that he hated people looking at his wound so I wouldn't misun…

Wait a minute! He doesn’t want other people to see his open wound. There must be something he is trying to hide. His blood is not normal? Does he even have blood? He isn’t a vampire. Then could he be…an alien?
